What to do when life feels like
a counter testimony
Tonight we go deeper into what God says when life looks like the opposite of a blessing. Leviticus 26:11 12 is not a prosperity verse it is a presence verse. God is not promising a better circumstance. God is promising to dwell among His people even when everything around them says otherwise.
We will move through three movements: naming the wound, entering the text, and praxis what it looks like to actually live as someone who belongs to God right now, not later, not after things get better, but now.

Opening — The Counter Testimony
What does it mean when your life looks like the opposite of what God promised? We open by naming the gap between what we believed and what we are living.
Naming the Wound — Questions 1 through 4
We spend time in the wound before we move to the Word. You cannot receive what you have not named. We will work through four questions designed to surface what has been buried.
Entering the Text — Leviticus 26:11 12
I will place my dwelling in your midst, and I shall not abhor you. I will be your God, and you shall be my people. We sit with the text and unpack the two covenant gifts hidden inside it: relief and reframe.
Praxis — Question 6
What changes if you actually believed you belonged to God right now? Not eventually. Now. We close with the question that moves us from study into life.

When was the last time your life looked more like a counter testimony than a testimony?
And what did you reach for in that moment?
Has anyone ever made you feel like you just did not matter? Like you were invisible like somebody tried to take away your value?
What did you do when that happened? Where did you go? Who did you reach for?
Have you ever watched other people look happy and blessed while your life felt like it was falling apart?
Did you ever wonder did God let this happen to me? What did you do with those feelings?
Have you ever been somewhere but felt like part of you was missing? Like you were there but not really all the way there?
Like you were living but could not call it home. How did you make it through?
Which gift do you need more right now the relief that God has not abandoned the relationship, or the reframe that your identity was never your pain to take?
Why? And what would it mean for your life if you actually received it?
What if God already decided you belong to Him not after you fix yourself, not when things get better, but right now, exactly as you are?
Would that change anything about how you wake up tomorrow? How you talk to yourself this week?
Life slammed rust on the windows until we forgot the color of light. The boiling pot had the lid on so long we forgot what it felt like to breathe without pressure. The ruins told us who we were and some of us started to believe them.
But somebody wrote it down while the windows were still fading to black.
Not a new circumstance. Not a rebuilt temple. Not Babylon defeated. Two covenant gifts for every soul sitting in the doom of a counter testimony. Relief that the relationship is still alive. Reframe that your identity was never your pain to take.
The pressure did not stop. But the presence never did.
God’s commitment is settled. What remains is our continuous becoming. Our willing heart. Our commitment to a relationship that was never cancelled even when it felt like it was.
My name is not broken. My name is not anxious. My name is not defeated. My name belongs to God.
I will place my dwelling among you. My soul will not abhor you. I will walk among you. I will be your God. And you you will be my people. Not when you get it together. Now. Here. In this. We belong to God. And belonging feels like home. Amen.
